Good to know Curiosities

  • The building was constructed in 1819 – 1822, as You can see above the portal and the original wooden door, which was back in the day - the main entrance to the building.
  • Part of fortification of the building was a 2 meters high floor, filled with clay, sand and ash, located between the 3rd and the 4th floor, which was supposed to stop a fire after bombing.
  • On the first and second floor by the lifts there are arrowslits, which during the Prussian reign, were used to shoot enemies.
  • In 1925, building of the Raclawice Barracks, officially became the seat of the first Naval Officers' School in Poland. After WWII the building became a dormitory which burned down in the nineties. As a ruin was purchased by current owners.

Adaptation - in search for ideal

  • The facility was divided into two parts – residential, historical part constructed in 1819 – 1822 and a service part built in 2008, with reception, hotel lobby, restaurant and conference rooms.
  • In the restaurant, club and underground car park, historic walls are preserved.
  • Due to its original function – military – the rooms are characterized by non-standard interior architecture, thick walls and subdued décor in earth colors, which distinguishes Hotel Bulwar from other modern hotels and adds a unique character to the interior.
  • The building is an integral part of the Old Town of Torun, UNESCO World Heritage site.

Unique place
Unique place
Very nice combination of puristic techno style of rooms, lobby and bar with eclectic details of decor and rawness of naves or old brick. Great location, right next to the old town and the Vistula. Close to everywhere. Very comfortable, bright and cozy. Nice staff. Deserved 4 stars
